The music ministry of Stony Point Baptist Church exists to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ, to create an atmosphere of worship, and to provide opportunities for members to share the God-given gifts and abilities they have, both within and outside the walls of our church. We believe the promise, "If I (Jesus) be lifted up, I will draw all men to me". We use various musical styles to convey the message of Christ, the use of alternative means to convey the message (drama, interpretive movement, banners, readings, visual presentations, signing, non-vocal musical presentations) choosing choral music with an emphasis on text and not style alone providing rehearsal time to "play (sing), skillfully unto the Lord.

Opportunities are always available for individuals who play instruments and/or sing solo's to be a part of our worship services. We especially have a need for assistant accompanist.
Anyone 13 years old and up is welcome to join the Adult Choir. We practice on Wednesday evenings at 8:00. We present special music each Sunday and usually have 2 special programs throughout the year.
Music Makers are for those in 1st through 6th grade children meet on Sunday evening, 6:10-7:00. As well as music, children will learn some interpretive movement and participate in drama from time to time.

Summer Music Makers is our Children's Choir and this program is held duriing the summer months on Monday mornings for students who have just finished kindergarten through sixth grade. The children practice and learn a biblical themed musical program that is presented to the church in August. Transportation is provided if needed.
Joyful Sounds is for ages 55 and up.
Scheduled to begin the 1st Monday in March at 7:00 pm in the church choir room. This group sings old favorites, southern gospel and traditional hymns.
Plans are underway to offer opportunities for our youth, those in grades 7-12, to be involved in the music ministry as well.

Interpretive Movement and Drama

Interpretive Movement is open to all ages, we meet on Sunday evenings at 7:00 in Lindsey Hall. Our purpose is to interpret message of Christian songs and the spoken word through movement and the use of various props.
